This will be our campsite for the night. Couple signs saying "No camping" but who the hell will be out here in middle of the night. While we were having a cuppa, 3 police cars pulled in, had a look at view & kept going, so we figured we would be pretty safe if they hadn't said anything to us about camping!!!

 

Yankalilla

Yankalilla is very much a farmers town, surrounded by old stone farmhouses, tumbledown sheds, stockyards & big gums. Peacefully located in the valley of Bungala river, overlooked by the wooded hillsides of the southern Mt Lofty ranges

 

 

It is also the site of one of the world's newest Marian Shrine - the Shrine of Our Lady of Yankalilla attracting pilgrims from around the world to see an image of the Madonna & Child that has appeared on the rear wall of the Anglican church

 

Bob & I went inside the church, but were unable to see the image. Guess you need to be a BELIEVER!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lady Bay lookout

5kms south of historic Normanville is beautiful Lady Bay, the colloquial name given to the settlement of shacks built half a century ago, only a couple remain there today

The Mill - Second valley

 

 

 

On the corner of the road before heading down to the sea, is the Old Mill, it has managed to get a new life & is now a restaurant/cafe

 

Second Valley - Fleurieu Peninsula

Time to start heading towards Adelaide. Just up the road called into Second valley, coastal seaside village on Yankalilla bay

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Back in 50 & 60's there were some boat houses on the rocks, they have long gone, but pathway has survived

 

 

 

Back @ Rapid bay

 

Arrived back here yesterday after getting off the ferry. Nice camp spot, green grass & $6 each per night. Will spend couple days here before heading up the coast towards Adelaide

Our journey around KI, missed some bits, but we are happy that we have seen what we wanted to see & to heck with the bits we missed!!!
