Port Victoria

Headed further up the coast this morning after a dip at the beach.

Mural on loo wall. Port Victoria is 189km from Adelaide & the last of the Windjammer ports.

All these coastal towns have a jetty from days gone by when they were all bustling ports sending grain overseas in sailing ships. Today they are a fisherman's delight with somewhere to fish from & put crab nets over the side

Tribute to the sailing ships.

Port Victoria was once the fourth largest port in SA. For over 70 years grain was loaded onto magnificent sailing ships bound for Europe via Cape horn. The "Pamir" & "Passat" were the last 2 ships to leave in 1949 on the last commercial voyage worldwide.
