After heading back along the gravel road 4 kms, we passed the Harveys Return cemetery. Offers a sombre reminder of many challenges faced by the early settlers
Witchwae @ Harveys Return campsite
Harveys Return beach is where the supplies for the lighthouse keepers was brought in by schooner, once every 3 months & then had to be hauled up the very steep cliff face & then 4kms back to the lighthouse. Damn hard work & lighthouse keepers diaries show staff insubordination including refusal to haul supplies
