Cute seat in the "Lions Park" in Parndana
The heart of KI & some might argue, the soul of the island. Generations of families haved lived, where farmers work the land & where you will find Parndana - the "Scrub Gum Place" a typical Australian country town. Parndana is home to the Soldiers Settlement museum (wasn't open the day we were there). The soldiers were responsible for almost doubling the area of agricultural land on the island.
Parndana truly comes alive in November when the annual "Speed Shears" event comes to town. Shearers from all over OZ & overseas compete in one of the richest shearing events in the world
